A night in a cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains

About

For the geologically inclined, ChatGPT tells me that the Great Smoky Mountains have peaks reaching 6,642 feet at Clingmans Dome, formed primarily from Precambrian rocks over a billion years old. Their dramatic uplift occurred around 300 million years ago when continental collisions created Pangea, pushing ancient metamorphic rocks over younger sedimentary layers. Once featuring sharp, alpine-like peaks, these mountains have been gradually rounded by erosion, which carried sediments eastward to form the Atlantic coastal plain. Fun!
